Sharing the Gifts I

The beauty of nature inspires me as an individual as well as an artist.  Growing up in the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania, I would take long hikes in the woods and cool off on hot summer days in the Mahantango creek.  The intrinsic beauty of creation has always been my inspiration.

For this particular piece my focus is iris- they are one of my favorite flower.  As a thoughtful gift, my husband told me to grab my camera and took me to an Iris farm where thousands of colored petals blanketed a very large area.  I took many pictures of the beauties in all their grandeur; so many colors.

The farmer of these iris gave us quite a few bagfuls of bulbs before leaving- quite a lovely gesture.  These bulbs are now growing in the flower gardens of both our mother’s….share the gifts.
