Introduction

Many of our experiences, positive and negative, involve flowers.  In May, as the Lilly of the Valley are at their peak of deliciousness, my mother would pick a vase full of these white drops of beauty and set them in my bedroom.  In the summer when I spent a week at grandma & grandpa's, grandma taught me how to draw "no-fail" roses.  My grandmother and I visit my grandpa and place roses on his grave; roses were a gift he would give her every Wedding Anniversary.  I grew up smelling, studying and picking flowers so it was just natural to begin painting them.  During the workshop I will provide my understanding of flowers, watercolor techniques and tips for a good composition as we share the ways these complex gifts of creation can make us smile, cry, laugh and heal.  An offshoot to this workshop is “Bird Watching” in which I supplement birds for flowers.
